UPDATE (7/30): The Kern County Coroner has identified the man killed in the crash as 19-year-old Isaac Zane Buaya.


UPDATE (7/27): A man was killed and another was seriously injured in yesterday’s crash.

The California Highway Patrol said a 19-year-old Bakersfield man was driving a Land Rover southbound on a mountainous dirt portion of Rancheria Road around nine miles north of Highway 178 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with the mountainside, causing the Land Rover to overturn.

The driver suffered fatal injuries while the passenger, a 20-year-old man, suffered major injuries and was taken to Kern Medical for treatment, according to the department.

The CHP said both men were not wearing seat-belts.


UPDATE (7/26): All lanes on Highway 178 are clear, according to Caltrans.


LAKE ISABELLA, Calif. (KGET) — Highway 178 is under one-way traffic control west of Lake Isabella following a crash, according to Caltrans.

The crash happened at about 4:36 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Expect delays if you are driving in the area.
