BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Highway 178 reopened Friday afternoon after days of work to clear rocks and boulders from the roadway.

Caltrans and CHP announced the road reopened just before 5 p.m. Friday.

Blast crews were sent to help remove the rocks and large boulders on Wednesday.

Highway 178 closed late Tuesday night after a rockslide left the highway unpassable. The rockslide happened during a storm that dropped even more rain and snow in Kern County and the surrounding mountain communities.

Another storm is set to arrive in Kern County on Saturday afternoon.
