UPDATE (Sept. 13): GET will once again be providing free bus rides on Monday due to an expected air quality index of 166.

UPDATE: GET said it is suspending free bus rides today because of improved air quality.

The company said it only will offer free rides if the air quality index is 150 or higher.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Golden Empire Transit will provide free bus rides on Tuesday because of continued poor air quality.

GET said the air quality index is expected to be 156. An AQI over 150 is considered unhealthy and potentially hazardous.

To monitor air quality, download the free San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District app through the App Store or Google Play.
