Free health screenings and kidney care education provided at Mercado Latino

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — DaVita Health is providing free health screenings and education on kidney care in east Bakersfield on Thursday.

The mobile health clinic will be providing a variety of services, including:

• Diabetes screenings, including a finger-stick glucose test

• Biometrics, including blood pressure, height/weight, waist measurement Body Mass Index (BMI) testing

• Personal and confidential patient results review

According to DaVita Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 37 million US adults aged 20 years and older – more than 15 percent of the adult population – have chronic kidney disease (CKD), which is the ninth leading cause of death in the US.

The health screenings will be at Mercado Latino, 2105 Edison Hwy #111, at 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
