Cal Fire update: Fort Fire is 277 acres, fully contained

UPDATE (Aug. 7) — Cal Fire says the Fort Fire has burned 277 acres and is at 100% containment.


UPDATE (3:23 p.m.) — The No. 4 lane on southbound I-5 has reopened, according to the CHP.


UPDATE (1:35 p.m.) — Cal Fire says the Fort Fire off Grapevine Road and Interstate 5 is at 100 acres.


UPDATE (12:26 p.m.) — Kern County Fire announced the Fort Fire has burned approximately 350 acres and is 40 percent contained. The fire is burning along the west side of southbound Interstate 5, south of Grapevine Road. The California Highway Patrol has closed down one lane.

Kern County Fire asks people to reduce their speeds and to stay alert for emergency personnel working along the roadway.


UPDATE (11:50 a.m.) — The Kern County Fire Department confirms the Fort Fire has burned 200 acres and has the potential to grow between 500 and 1,000 acres. The fire is 20 percent contained.


UPDATE (11:20 a.m.) — The Kern County Firefighters union says the Fort Fire has now burned more than 250 acres and is 20 percent contained. The Fort Fire is burning near the Grapevine north of Lebec.


TEJON, Calif. (KGET) — A brush fire burning near the Grapevine has closed the #4 lane on Interstate 5, according to the California Highway Patrol traffic website. The fire is burning just north of Lebec.
