Renovations at Bakersfield College are just getting started as the campus cashes in on Measure J.

BC broke ground today on a new $35 million student center. Part of the funding comes from a $502 million bond the campus received after voters passed Measure J in November 2016.

This is the second building construction project breaking ground thanks to the bond and perhaps one of the school’s biggest as administrators say it will serve as a hub for all important activities.

The new student center is scheduled to be complete in December 2020.

While there are many other projects planned on campus, administrators tell me the next big one to look out for is renovating Memorial Stadium.
