Bakersfield’s population increases by estimated 1%, remains 9th largest city in California

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The City of Bakersfield continues to grow in population among California’s biggest cities according to a state estimate.

Bakersfield’s estimated population as of Jan. 1, 2019, is 389,211.

The figure comes from the State Department of Finance which released its annual population estimates.

The figure is a 4,290 person increase compared to revised estimates from January 2018.

Bakersfield is the ninth largest city in California ahead of Anaheim and below Oakland.

The city says Bakersfield’s growth was the seventh highest change in population state wide.
