Suspected DUI, hit-and-run driver arrested following collision that injured bicyclist

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man was arrested after allegedly colliding with a bicyclist and fleeing the scene Saturday night, Bakersfield police said.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection at Stockdale Highway and Stine Road just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday in Southwest Bakersfield. A person on a bike was found injured in the roadway video from the scene showed. The person’s injuries were described as moderate.

Police said they arrested 44-year-old man later that night. The suspected driver was identified as Robert Rodarte. He was arrested for DUI, hit-and-run causing injury and driving with a suspended license, Lt. Nathan McCauley said.
