$5,000 raised, 11 animals adopted during ‘Unleash Your Love’ adoption event

Bakersfield SPCA 'Unleash Your Love' adoption event takes place May 1

UPDATE (May 1, 5:15 p.m.): The Bakersfield SPCA says they raised $5,000 and found new homes for 11 animals at Wednesday’s “Unleash Your Love” adoption drive.

The SPCA says nine dogs and two cats were adopted to new families and the money will go toward spaying 100 dogs at the shelter.

You can continue to donate to the Bakersfield SPCA online or visiting them at 3000 Gibson St.

KGET, and the Bakersfield SPCA are hosting the Unleash Your Love adoption event and fundraiser beginning Wednesday morning.

Starting at 5 a.m. outside the KGET studios at 22nd and M streets you can meet and take home a new home at a reduced fee.

Cats and dogs will be available.

The SPCA will also be collecting donations to help continue its services.

You can also get a dozen doughnut holes for $10.

The event takes place from 5 a.m. until 2 p.m.
