BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A woman was killed and her passenger injured when the vehicle they were traveling in was hit by a suspected drunken driver, according to California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened shortly before 4 a.m. on northbound Highway 65, just north of Famoso Road. The name of the 53-year-old woman who died will be released by the coroner’s office.
Officers say William Pederson, 54, was driving a gray Ram truck north on Highway 65 when he crossed over the double yellow line into the southbound lane and collided with the other vehicle. Pederson suffered minor injuries.
Pederson was believed to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody on suspicion of manslaughter and other offenses.
