Local hospital offering free cancer screenings for veterans

On Tuesday, Feb. 13, The AIS Cancer Center is hosting free prostate, breast and lung cancer screenings for veterans.

The screenings are taking place at the center located at 2620 Chester Avenue from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

According to Adventist Health:

  • An annual prostate screening is recommended for men as young as 50. Men with a close family history of prostate cancer or of African American descent should also consider screening at age 45.
  • Clinical breast exams are recommended every 3 years for women in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and annually for women age 40+
  • Lung screenings are recommended for those 55 – 80 who currently smoke or quit within the past 15 years and have at least a 30-pack-year history of cigarette smoking.
