Local female pilots compete in cross-country air race

Elza Nikita and recent Bakersfield Christian High School graduate Taylor Thompson joined 17 News at Sunrise to talk about what it was like to compete in the 42nd Annual Air Race Classic.

The race was founded by Amelia Earhart in 1929. It consisted of 60 two-person teams from around the country and including some from around the world. The race itself was to fly the perfect cross-country race. It was a total of 2,600 miles that covered 15 states in four days.
