Several school districts are taking part in offering free meals to children when classes are not in session.
Kern High School District
The Kern High School District is offering free meals for anyone 18 and under starting on June 5.
Breakfast and lunch will be available at the following locations, but more detailed information including times can be found at the KHSD website:

Panama Buena Vista School District
The Panama Buena Vista Union School District is offering free meals for kids and teens 18 years and younger beginning next week. The Seamless Summer Food Program, a federally funded program, will begin June 4 through June 29.

Kern County Library
The Lunch at the Library program is a statewide collaboration between the California Library Association, the California Summer Meal Coalition, the Institute for Local Government, the Arvin Union School District, the Delano Union School District, the El Tejon Unified School District, the Kern High School District, Kern County Superintendent of Schools, the McFarland Unified School District, and the Sierra Sands Unified School District.

Children, ages 2-18 years old, eat free at all seven locations. Parents and caregivers (child must be present) may eat for a small fee.
Bakersfield City School District
Thanks to a federally funded program, summer meals will be served free to
all children ages 1-18 years of age by Bakersfield City School District. Summer school is not required. Meals are not restricted to persons living in the area of the serving site; children from all areas and school districts are welcome. Proof of age may be required. However, persons 19 years of age or older may purchase a meal at a low cost.

Nutrition Services Department will provide free breakfast and lunch to all kis during summer school. Free meals are for kids ages 3-18. Anyone over 18 years old can purchase a meal for a low cost.
