The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society named their man and woman of the year Friday night.
Each year the organization hosts a spirited fundraising campaign, where prominent community members compete for the titles.
There were 11 candidate this year.
Shane Bryan was named Man of the Year.
Elizabeth Lehr was named Woman of the Year.
“The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society raises fund for three areas of our mission, research, patient services and advocacy,” LLS executive director Debbie Truhett said. “So 78 cents on every dollar is directed to those three areas and we serve patients right here in Kern County and all across the country.”

This years event raised over $208,000.
