The former principal accused of murdering her husband will no longer face the death penalty, according to the district attorney’s office.
Leslie Chance is charged with first-degree murder and has entered a not guilty plea. She faces a life sentence if found guilty.
Chance is accused of shooting her husband, Todd Chance, and dumping his body to receive three life insurance policies. Todd Chance’s body was found in an orchard off Enos Lane on August 25, 2013.
Her trial is set for February and she is being held without bail.
