KHSD votes to redraw its district lines

News

The Kern High School District voted to redraw its district lines following a decision that could force the county to do the same.

The district told 17 News that according to its most recent data, certified Jan. 22, the district has a total of 39,520 students.

Just over 26,000 students are Hispanic — about two-thirds of all KHSD students.

The district has posted a timeline to its website, with March 19 listed as a special board meeting to take up the issue of redrawing the lines ahead of its upcoming November election when three of the five seats are up for grabs.
