KGET and ADAKC cinnamon roll drive raises over $25,000

News

Kern County once again showed its generosity and spirit Wednesday.

The annual Pennies For Your Thoughts cinnamon roll drive benefiting the Alzheimer’s Disease Association of Kern County began bright and early at 6 a.m. Wednesday.

People drove in and lined up at 22nd and L streets as Don Hodel and his crew at Hodel’s Restaurant prepared batches of their signature cinnamon rolls.

For the sixth straight year, this fundraiser was a tasty triumph with the money going to assist with day services at ADAKC.

According to ADAKC, 2,500 pans were sold this year and were sold out by 10 a.m.

An exact amount raised isn’t known yet, but ADAKC says it exceeded the goal with over $25,000 raised Wednesday.
