The Kern High School District announced it has appointed a new police chief.
The district announced Ed Komin as its Chief of Police.
Komin has been with the district since January 2016, but has served as acting Chief of Police since October 2016.
Komin has 33 years experience in law enforcement in the county, with more than 28 years with the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
“I am very appreciative of the opportunity to serve the students and staff of the Kern High School District as the Chief of Police. I am excited about the future of the District and look forward to working with the community and the District to enhance the safety of our schools,” Komin said in a statement from the district.
