Kern County unemployment numbers have been released for January showing a loss of thousands of jobs in the county.
Unemployment rose to 9.1 percent in January. That number is up from December’s revised unemployment rate of 7.5 percent.
The county lost 5,100 jobs during that time.
The jobs report was delayed because of an annual revision process in the state unemployment department.
Most of the losses came from trade, transportation and utilities which are all listed as one industry by the employment department.
California’s unemployment rate was reported at 4.8 percent for January 2019.
