All the noise that accompanies the Fourth of July can frighten pets and cause them to runaway. The first few days after the holiday are the busiest for local animal shelters.
Pet Matchmaker is hosting a micro-chipping event at their fireworks stand Wednesday until 11 p.m. to help track your pets if they do get out.
The microchips are free and they are accepting donations.
Keeping pets inside at night can go a long way to keeping them calm when fireworks begin to go off.
You can find the stand near Freddy’s Frozen Custard on Rosedale Highway and Calloway Drive.
