KCSO purchasing 112 rifles to replace older firearms

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is purchasing 112 rifles to replace older excess federal rifles, according to a department spokesperson.

The new rifles cost about $1,250 each, and the department is using asset forfeiture money for 100 of the rifles and civil funds for the other 12, spokeswoman Angela Monroe said.

“We will continue to replace department rifles in the next couple of years until our rifles, like our Glock pistols and Remington shotguns, are standardized,” she said.
