BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A pursuit that began in Oildale Thursday night ended with the female driver crashing into another car then running from the scene.

According to Lt. Bill Smallwood, deputies tried to stop a reported stolen vehicle around 10 p.m. Thursday at 40th Street and Jewett Avenue. Smallwood says the driver, Shantelle Jaggers, 33, refused to stop and deputies gave chase.

When Jaggers started driving too fast, Smallwood says the deputy terminated the pursuit at Beardsley Avenue and North Chester Avenue. But, Jaggers continued on North Chester and struck a vehicle at East Warren Avenue.

The woman in the vehicle that was hit was taken to Kern Medical with minor injuries.

Lt. Smallwood says Jaggers took off running after the crash, and deputies still looking for her. Jaggers has a prior felony warrant for grand theft auto.

Anyone with information should call KCSO at 861-3110.
