GLENNVILLE, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County sheriff’s Bomb Squad burned aged explosives in the Glennville area Monday.

Sheriff’s officials said a property owner reported having explosives that were legally obtained years ago but were now unsafe to move due to their age.

After conferring with the owner, the Bomb Squad performed a controlled burn of the material that consumed a small shed, as expected, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone in possession of old explosives that can no longer be used is asked to contact the Bomb Squad through the Communications Center at 861-3110.
