A man was stabbed and killed at Kern Valley State Prison this morning according to California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
According to CDCR, Sergio Robles,44, was attacked and killed with inmate-made stabbing weapons by inmates Brian Alatorre, 23, and Jose Ramos, 44, just after 10 a.m. in the Facility “A” recreation yard.
When officers responded to the scene of the incident they gave orders to the suspects to stop and they did so without use of force.
Robles was stabbed multiple times in his head, back and upper body. He was immediately taken to the prison’s triage and treatment area to be treated, but was then transported to another facility outside of the prison to get a higher level of care.
Robles was pronounced dead at the hospital at less than an hour later at 10:53 a.m.
Robles was serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole for conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Both Alatorre and Ramos are serving a life sentences with the possibility of parole.
