Immigration activists begin 24-hour fast in front of Rep. McCarthy’s office

News

Immigration advocates, supporters and families took to a 24-hour fast and camped out in front of Congressman Kevin McCarthy’s office Wednesday.

Their fast began at noon and will continue through noon Thursday they said.

They are fasting in support of reuniting the more than 2,400 missing children and demand an end to family separations at the border.

“As we fast for 24 hours, our hope is that we bring awareness to what’s happening in our country today, it’s wrong that they are separating families,” Daniel Penaloza, one of the fasters, said.

“I can only imagine being separated from my mother, and there’s literally kids being separated at this very moment today right now, and they’re alone without their parents.”

Penaloza urges the public to support and fast with them and stand for the missing children.
