Identity of stabbing victim released

Authorities have identified the man stabbed to death Tuesday at the Bakersfield Lodge on South Union Avenue.  

Jessie Angel Romero Mendoza, 27, was found unresponsive in the 1200 block of S. Union Avenue, according to the coroner’s office. 

He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Mendoza was stabbed during a fight, his attacker fleeing the scene, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office. 

The stabber was described as being 35 years old, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and weighing about 185 pounds. 

He was wearing a white tank top and dark shorts, KCSO said.
