Arvin police are investigating the shooting death of a man Monday evening, surpassing a grim marker for homicides in a single year in Kern County.
Police were called to the 200 block of Langford Avenue near Cardiff and Stockton avenues at around 5:20 p.m. for a report of shots fired in the area.
There, Arvin police officers found a 32 year old man — identified as Moses Joseph De La Fuente — suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
De La Fuente was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators at the scene said there were reports that as many as three or five gunshots were heard in the area.
It’s unclear if the shooting was gang-related or if it was a drive-by style shooting, Arvin police said.
Monday’s killing in Arvin is the 104th homicide in Kern County this year according to the 17 News Homicide Tracker.
