A mobile donut shop looks to bring a healthy treat to downtown Bakersfield.
“Pro Donuts” is a food trailer years in the making, and, owner, Aubrie Felkins is offering baked, gluten-free donuts.
Felkins says she wanted something even people with sensitive stomachs can try – based on her own experience dealing with gluten intolerance, and her son’s severe reaction to it.
She also offers discounts to first responders in memory of her late grandfather, a former Sheriff’s deputy.
“So, my contribution is just to give back and support our first responders because they’re the first ones who go out to a lot of crazy things and I feel that we as a community need to get together and support them,” said Felkins.
She says her grandfather came up with the name in the hospital when she brought him Pro-donuts while he couldn’t eat other sweets.
Pro Donuts is located on 24th and M Streets.
They are open from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m., Tues. – Thurs, and they are also available at Sully’s Markets.
