Triangle Mini Mart had to temporarily close its doors after a recent visit from Kern County Public Health Department.

In a Jan. 17 inspection report, health officials found rat droppings throughout the facility, in the food sales area and on shelves, as well as inside food product boxes.

Officials also found chew marks on opened packages.

Public Health says they observed non-professional bait traps. Triangle Mini Mart’s owner said there had been a problem with vermin since he took ownership.

In addition to the droppings, officials found that there was no running hot water at three of the store’s sinks.

Triangle Mini Mart is located at 1430 E. Truxtun Ave.

17News will update this story when the market reopens.
