Former high school basketball coach charged with having sex with minor

News

A former high school basketball coach accused of having sex with an underage student is now officially facing charges.

Keith Lamont, who coached the girls basketball team at Ridgeview, Stockdale, and Bakersfield High Schools between 2011 and 2017, was charged Thursday with oral copulation with a person younger than 16 and contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense.

Earlier this month, a woman reported to police she had sexual contact with Cash starting in 2011, when she was 14.

Cash has not been employed by the Kern High School District for the past 10 months, and was primarily a walk-on coach, according to district officials.

He is scheduled for arraignment on Aug. 8.
