Disgraced former sheriff’s deputy Logan August has paid his debt to the federal government.

August and former deputy Derrick Penney were sentenced in 2017 to probation on federal charges for stealing from KCSO evidence.

They were also ordered to forfeit money they made off the marijuana.

Court documents filed on Wednesday indicate August paid the $16,200 he owed.

In the federal case, neither August nor Penney ever spent a day behind bars.

However, both are now facing felony charges filed last September in Kern County Superior Court, related to additional marijuana theft allegations while they were deputies.

The new trial is scheduled to start in May.
