Former Bakersfield mayor Harvey Hall hospitalized, steps down as president of Hall Ambulance

​Harvey Hall, Bakersfield’s longest serving mayor, has been hospitalized in Los Angeles.

A company spokesperson told 17 News Hall, 77, was admitted to a hospital for treatment of an undisclosed illness. According to a statement, Hall was advised to seek treatment outside of Bakersfield.

17 News was told it is the same illness that hospitalized Hall in Bakersfield several weeks ago. He was treated and then released.

Hall has stepped down as president of Hall Ambulance. Hall’s wife, Lavonne, has taken over as president of the company.

Hall Ambulance was founded in 1971.

Hall was first elected as Bakersfield mayor in 2000 and served four terms as mayor ending in January 2017.

Hall was inducted into the Bakersfield Hall of Fame earlier this year.
