Food taken during break in at Bakersfield Senior Center

Police say they’re investigating a break in at a Bakersfield senior center. The center’s staff caught the crime on tape.

It happened at the Bakersfield Senior Center on 4th Street sometime between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.

The executive director believes the person climbed onto the roof of the building, moved the AC and busted out the vent.

After dropping inside, they went into the freezer and stole $100 worth of food. But while they escaped over the fence some of it fell.

“Now we are going to have to figure how we’ll get the additional finances to replace those items,” Bakersfield Senior Center Executive Director Lili Parker said.

Parker also said the facility hasn’t received funding for certain grants in some time making money tight.

Investigators were able to lift fingerprints and possible footprints bringing them a step closer to finding a possible culprit
