Despite a brutal and ongoing heatwave, Californians are being asked to conserve energy this week to avoid rolling power outages.

The Independent System Operator, ISO, issued a Flex Alert for Tuesday and Wednesday because of the high heat, high wildfire risk, as well as tight natural gas supply in Southern California.

The alert asks for voluntary conservation from 5 p.m to 9 p.m. when air conditioner use is at their peak throughout the state.

You are asked to turn off all unnecessary lights, and avoid using major appliances during the Flex Alert.
