Kern County Fire Department responded Sunday afternoon to a fire that erupted in a vacant vineyard in Arvin.
Firefighters battling an apartment fire in the area were dispatched to a grape vineyard. Upon arrival, an empty structure was fully-engulfed in flames, according to Jim Eckroth with Kern County Fire Department.
The vacated grape field, located on S. Edison Road, was scheduled to be demolished sometime in the near future, its owner told KCFD.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
This was the third fire reported in Arvin on Sunday. The first fire killed more than 50 animals – including horses and cattle – on the outskirts of town. The second fire erupted at an apartment complex on Walnut Drive and left more than 20 people homeless.
