Bakersfield and Kern County firefighters teamed up Monday afternoon to battle an abandoned building fire in East Bakersfield.
Crews were called to the fire on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at around 12:30 p.m.
PG&E crews were called to handle a downed power line that was nearby as well. Add those elements to the high temperatures, and it made for a more tense scene for firefighters battling all the elements.
Bakersfield police also responded to help secure the area. A fight was reportedly nearby before the flames broke out.
It’s unclear how the fire started, but firefighters say they believe a fire burned there before.
No injuries were reported.
