A fire broke out at a home in East Bakersfield Sunday, spreading to a nearby vehicle and shutting down traffic in the area.
Both city and county fire crews responded to the home on Quincy Street, at the intersection with Miller Street, just after 11:45 a.m., according to the Bakersfield Fire Department.
People were inside the house when the fire began, but were able to escape safely, fire officials said.
The fire was put out in about 15 minutes.
Pacific Gas & Electric company also responded to the scene for downed power lines.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and officials have not given an estimate on the amount of damage to the property or surrounding properties.
