A family of seven was displaced after their home caught fire in East Bakersfield Friday morning.
At around 11:45 a.m. Kern County Fire Department crews were called to a home in the 1000 block of Orangewood Street for multiple reports of a fire.
When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and a fire burning in a bedroom at the back of the house that spread to the attic.
Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to a neighboring home.
Three people and two animals were inside the home at the time of the fire, but were able to get out, Kern County Fire Department Capt. Jason Crabtree said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported.
