A Bakersfield man will spend a year in jail and three on probation for illegally owning an assault rifle.
In February, deputies stopped Eric Palmer on Quincy Street in East Bakersfield.
They found an assault rifle and a high capacity magazine in his vehicle. As a convicted felon, Palmer cannot legally own guns.
Deputies later searched his home and found three more AR-15 rifles with scratched serial numbers.
Palmer pleaded no contest to having a firearm as a felon and for driving on a suspended license.
