Family loses Southeast Bakersfield home in fire

A family of six lost their Southeast Bakersfield home in a fire Monday afternoon.

Bakersfield and Kern County fire crews responded to the two-alarm fire at the corner of South Haley and South Brown streets at around 5:15 p.m.

When firefighters arrived the fire was moving from a utility shed into the attic. Firefighters were able to put out that fire but county fire crews deemed it a total loss.

The Red Cross is helping the family in that home find a place to stay tonight.

No one was injured. The Kern County Fire Department says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
