Deadly shooting outside East Bakersfield FoodMaxx

Officials identified the person killed outside of an East Bakersfield grocery store overnight.

Adam Malik Cook, 21, of Bakersfield, was shot in the 6000 block of Niles Street, according to Kern County coroner. The shooting happened near the FoodMaxx located on the corner of Niles Street and Fairfax Road around midnight, according to Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

Cook and two other victims were taken to the hospital by private vehicle before deputies arrived, according to KCSO.

Cook died at the hospital. The other two victims are being treated for non life-threatening injuries, according to KCSO.

Officials have not released suspect information.
