A 25-year-old man from Arvin is dead after slamming his truck into two power poles this morning.
Kern County coroner identified the man killed as Juan Jose Alvarado, of Arvin.
The solo-vehicle crash happened just after 1 a.m. on Wheeler Ridge Road, just south of Herring Road.
California Highway Patrol officers say the car was traveling northbound when it drifted across the southbound lanes and into the dirt shoulder, into a power pole. After the hit, the car traveled back on the roadway and collided into a second power pole, according to CHP.
Alvarado died on scene, according to officers. His car was described as a 1998 Chevrolet, according to a news release form CHP. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, officials said.
It is undetermined if drugs, alcohol or speed were factors and the crash is still under investigation.
Anyone with information is urged to call CHP at 369-6600.
