CHP said one person was killed in a hit-and-run on Interstate 5 early Tuesday morning after their car broke down.
This happened along Interstate 5, five miles south of Highway 46.
CHP said the unidentified man’s car was on the shoulder of the freeway. He was walking for assistance and ended up in the #2 lane where he was hit by a vehicle in the northbound lane.
A big rig driver stopped and notified officers.
CHP officers said the man killed was not carrying identification. The Kern County Coroner’s Office will confirm the man’s identity.
Officials from the Buttonwiliow CHP substation said the vehicle involved in the hit and run left some parts of the vehicle at the scene but did not have a make and model of the car suspected.
CHP said there were no witnesses.
