CSUB police say men attempted to break into women’s cars

Cal State Bakersfield police are alerting the public of separate reports of men who attempted to open the doors of women’s cars while the women were inside.

In a message to the campus, CSUB police said a woman was parking her car in Lot M at around 6 a.m.on Tuesday when a man tried to open her door. The door was locked and the woman left the area. She then contacted campus police.

On Feb. 4, police say two men tried to open the doors of a car with a woman inside as she was warming up the car in Lot M at around 8:45 p.m. Police say the doors were locked and the two men left the area before police arrived.

CSUB police have increased patrols in the two areas.

Police offers precautions people can take while at the campus or if they suspect suspicious activity.

CSUB police say people at the campus can request an escort from university police if they feel unsafe by calling 654-2677.

If you see someone suspicious while you are in your vehicle, drive to a safe area and call 254-2111.
