CSUB hosts events remembering Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Memorials are being held nationwide Wednesday to remember Dr. Martin Luther King including in Bakersfield.

Cal State Bakersfield is holding events throughout the day across campus.

A documentary on King will be shown at 2 p.m. in the Walter W. Stiern Library.

A public reading of King’s letter from Birmingham jail starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Stiern Library.

At 6 p.m., outgoing president Dr. Horace Mitchell and Vice President of Student Affairs Thomas Wallace will both speak on King’s influence in their lives at the Dore Theater.

It all leads to a candlelight vigil later that night.

Also at CSUB that day:

9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – A faculty panel on the legacy of Dr. King and Civil Rights Movement
moderated by Dr. Alem Kebede of the Department of Sociology in the Dezember
Reading Room of the Walter W. Stiern Library. Parking for the event will be available in
Lots J, K1, K2, and K3.
