CSUB Campus Security Report shows reported rapes increased in 2017

The Cal State University Bakersfield campus saw a rise in rapes reported on campus last year, according to the annual security report.

Four rapes were reported in campus housing. That number is up from 2015 and 2016 when no rapes were reported on campus or in campus housing.

CSUB had four reported burglaries, according to the report’s crime statistics. That number is down from 2015 when there were 7 reported burglaries.

Alcohol-related offenses also dropped in 2017. Twelve people who were detained for questioning received referrals— less than half the people cited in 2015.

Only one person was arrested for drugs in 2017, while nine were cited.
