CSUB announces plans for Harvey L. Hall Plaza

News

Cal State University Bakersfield President Dr. Lynnette Zelezny announced plans for the Harvey L. Hall Family Plaza at CSUB men’s basketball game on Saturday.

The announcement came during halftime while celebrating the late mayor’s birthday.

The plaza will honor the partnership between the former longtime Bakersfield mayor and CSUB, which goes back to the early 70’s.

The space will be located on the concourse of the Icardo Center. It will feature a two-tone brick walkway that will be highlighted by a bronze roadrunner monument near the south side parking lot.

Park benches, trees, and landscape will complete the renovation.

The project is expected to be completed prior to CSUB finalizing its move to the Big West Conference in summer of 2020.

The announcement came just before the buzzer-beating layup by CSUB’s Taze Moore winning the game 73 to 71 over Utah Valley.
