WASCO, Calif. (KGET) — St. John the Evangelist church reported on social media that its Sacred Heart statue had been vandalized, and posted images of the statue with its head and arms removed.

The Facebook post said the vandalism happened around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. Law enforcement is investigating.

Rev. Raul Armando Sanchez said the statue has been there since the church first opened decades ago. He said he’s sad but thankful for the community response on social media. The priest said a lot of people have contacted him with offers to help replace the statue.
