BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man was arrested Wednesday after police said he made threats to kill himself and his children at a residence on 28th Street east of San Dimas Street.

Police were dispatched around 11 a.m. to a report of a man threatening to kill himself and his two young children, according to Bakersfield Police Department.

Police spokesman Sgt. Robert Pair said officers made contact with an “uncooperative male suspect.”

Brandon Woods, 30, of Bakersfield eventually left the home voluntarily after speaking with police negotiators, according to BPD. Woods was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, felony child endangerment, criminal threats and being a felon in possession of ammunition.

The children were unharmed, police said.
