Court documents in a federal drug investigation show what happened during a shooting involving a DEA agent in a South Bakersfield Lowe’s parking lot on Jan. 11.
Drug Enforcement Administration and FBI agents were investigating Miguel Corrales in a sting. Authorities say he was trying to buy crystal meth from a Mexican dealer.
In the criminal complaint, the agents say Corrales was driving an SUV with bags of crystal meth inside.
The documents say Corrales did not comply with commands to surrender and accelerated toward an agent while trying to escape. A DEA agent then fired on him and struck Corrales in the chest.
Corrales was taken to Kern Medical with moderate wounds.
